Between no slip and free slip: A new boundary condition for the surface hydrodynamics of a molten metal

As an attempt to take into account the mechanical role of oxide films at liquid surface melted or metal flows, a model is proposed based on Boussinesq-Scriven law corrected by non-Newtonian behavior. A characterisation device developed annular open-channel viscometer positioned in chemical reactor and pervaded uniform static magnetic field. The makes it possible monitor oxidation process liquid-gas interface. vertical field allows shear layer thanks 2D tendency low Rm MHD. Both highly viscous nature shear-thinning behavior are made evident, as confirmed numerical simulations scanning electron microscopy. These results believed be insightful calculation flows metallurgy industry (casting 3-D printing additive manufacturing metals for instance).
